if you want to catch a lot of rain, put out a lot of teacups...
So you want to add (aka embed) a video in a discussion? Great. Videos are among the most powerful tools we can use to tell our Team's stories.
First, put your cursor where you want the video to show up in your discussion. Then, click the little Media button in the editing toolbar that looks like this:
A page will open that looks like this:
The "embed code" is the HTML (aka computer language) that tells the computer where on the vastness of the internet to find your specific video. If you video is parked on YouTube, Vimeo or Hulu it will have an embed code you can grab and paste here.
Click these links for instructions on how to find the code on YouTube, Vimeo or Hulu.
If your video is parked only on your computer, you will need to first upload it to 5 for Fairness so it is parked on 5 for Fairness and then grab the embed code. Once you have uploaded your video, click on the Get Embed Code link right under the video on the right hand side. It looks like this:
When you click on it, a little window will open to the left of it that looks like this:
If you copy the code in the "Direct Link" box, you can create a hyperlink in your discussion that will take your readers to the video.
But we like to use the HTML Embed code to paste into your discussion (using the HTML Editor) because that way the video itself appears in your discussion. Just copy the code, go back to your discussion, and click the HTML Editor tab that looks like this:
Then copy the embed code and switch back to the Visual Mode by clicking the Visual Mode tab. Your video will appear as a yellow box but when you click the Add Discussion button, it will magically turn into a video.
