FAQ: How do I choose which emails I want to get from 5 for Fairness?

Here on 5 for Fairness, the LAST thing we want to do is harass you with unwanted emails and fortunately for all of us, it is very easy for you to pick and choose which notifications you want to get from us.

 

There are two types of emails you can get from 5 for Fairness.  The first comes from our mailing list, and includes our newsletter and, most important, your personal link to our ballot when it is time to vote. 

 

In order to vote, you MUST be on our mailing list.  That said, you can choose how often you receive email from us. There are three options for when you the newsletter/ballot link:

1. Whenever there's news & when it's time to vote. You'll get around one a week, more when we are giving money away.

2. Only during grant cycles & when it's time to vote.  Around two a week.

3. Only when it's time to vote.  You'll get emails during voting week.

 

You are welcome to change your delivery preferences at any time. Every email newsletter from us comes with a change your preferences link. 

 

You are also welcome to unsubscribe from our mailing list.  We'll be sad to see you go but we'll understand!  Every email newsletter from us comes with an unsubscribe link. Or you can email us at news@5forFairness.org and just tell us to unsubscribe you.

 

ONE ALL-CAPPED CAVEAT:THE ONLY WAY TO VOTE IS IF YOU ARE ON OUR EMAIL MAILING LIST!

 

The second type of email is generated from the 5 for Fairness site itself, and is the result of actions that happen on the site.  Say someone leaves a comment on your page, depending on your email settings, you will get an email notification of that.  Same goes for Teams you belong to or discussions you have decided to follow.  That said it is very easy to customize which emails you get from the 5 for Fairness site.

 

To take a gander at the veritable buffet of options you have, start by clicking on the Settings link in the upper right hand corner of every page that looks like this:

On the left hand side of the next page click on the Email link that looks like this:

On the next page, you can pick and choose to your heart's content amongst all the many email options.  Just remember to click SAVE when you are done:
