5 for Fairness

if you want to catch a lot of rain, put out a lot of teacups...

What's the difference between JOINING and VOTING on 5 for Fairness?

I have a sneaking suspicion that there is some confusion out there (and why not?  this is a brand new thing we have going here!) about the difference between Joining a Team and Voting for  Team.

Here's how it works.  Right now we are in what we might (if we decide to be inspired by the Olympics) call the Prelims.  We are choosing which 5 Teams move into the Finals aka the Voting Round. How do we choose?  Well, the 5 Teams with the most supporters - members who have Joined their Team - will move into the Voting Round.

You, as a member, can Join as many Teams as you think deserve your support.  At this time, Joining a Team just helps that Team get to the Voting Round.  You can easily Join and Unjoin Teams.  If you have not Joined yet the link to join on the Team page looks like this:

Once you have Joined, you will see, on the upper right hand side of the Team page, a link that looks like this:

Come February 22, the Voting begins. We will take the 5 Teams with the most members and create a poll.  At this point, you can only vote for 1 Team.

The Team with the most votes gets our Grant.

The good news is that one organization will get $5000.  But there is good news for all the other organizations too:  they will a)automatically be in the running for our second grant b)have supporters that they never had before and c)have an ongoing opportunity to  refine their message in front of a group of folks interested in their line of work.

So, for the next week, please JOIN as many Teams as you would like to help move into the Voting Round.  Once the Voting Round starts, you will need to save your vote for your top pick.
