How We Work

Our community supports fairness in many ways.  First, we each donate a minimum of $5 to our Grant Account.  As we wait for the account to reach $5000, we...

Shine a light:  Through blogs, videos and photographs, we draw attention to places and situations where girls are clearly not getting a fair share as well as to progress that is being made in the long march toward fairness.

Invite friends:  We invite our friends to join the movement for fairness. 

Start Teams:  We start Teans that we believe would be worthy recipients of 5 for Fairness grants.  

Evaluate projects: We ask smart and useful questions about projects in order to help our group make the best possible decisions about where to award our grants.

Join Teams: The five Teams with the most members move to the Voting Round, so when we come across a Team whose mission and strategy we believe in, we Join it.

When our Grant Account totals $5000, we...

Vote!:  We vote for the project we think most deserves a 5 for Fairness grant and send the winning project a check for $5000.

5 for Fairness is an experiment in social philanthropy, an attempt to create a grass-roots giving movement. It will work if every member of the community contributes to the effort.
