Hi Carole,

I’m the co-founder of Women LEAD, one of the teams competing for the grant this month. I’d love your support to empower more than 200 young women in Nepal to become leaders in their schools and communities! Your vote would help us build the capacity of future female leaders to tackle the root causes of poverty and discrimination. Our organization strongly believes that building young women's confidence and skills is key to empowerment. Please check out our page and website to see the work that we do and let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Hi Carole! My name is Kearney, and I'm a 5fer intern. Like Anna, I wanted to welcome to 5 for Fairness! Thanks so much for joining the site and supporting Jimmie. Man Up is an awesome cause, as are Solar Sister, Equality Now, and Camp Voice. In addition to supporting these teams, however, there is a lot else going on here. There are discussions, videos, and articles posted by our members all the time addressing womens issues and rights worldwide, and I hope that you will not hesitate in joining in the forum, as well as contributing your own posts, etc should you be so inspired. If you have any questions at all about the site, please do not hesitate to ask me! thanks so much!

Hi and welcome to 5 for Fairness.  I'm Anna, the founder. To complete your membership,  you'll need to make your minimum $5 donation to our collective grant account.  You'll be prompted to donate when you next come back to the site.  After you donate, you'll be a full-fledged 5fer for life (unless you unsubscribe from our email list!) and be able to vote to decide the winner of our current - and all future - grants. 100% of your tax-deductible donation will go help seed our next grant.

Right now, we are getting ready to give a grant away, which means that Teams representing different organizations working on behalf of girls are telling their stories to our members and trying to garner support.  There is a "like" button on each Team page and if you want to show your support for one, or ask a question of the Team leaders, click it to access the Team page.  Formal voting to determine the winner of this grant starts on 11/22 and runs to 11/28.  The winner will be announced on 11/30, we'll cut them a big check, and start the whole process over again.  In the meantime, we'll be sending you email newsletters with updates throughout the grant cycle including one telling you it is time to come back and vote for your favorite. Thanks again for joining!

Anna

PS If you have any questions about how things work, I'm here (well, on my page) to answer them!
