Dear Team Members,Thank you so much for your support! Though we may have been last and far behind in terms of votes, I'm happy to see that we've gained 40 new supporters to our cause! That's great!…Continue

Rats. I'm sorry the results were not what you had hoped. I know it is disappointing not to win - but I do think Camp VOICE has shown us that the group has a sense of loyalty toward organizations that show up and try hard over multiple cycles.
Our next grant cycle will probably be in late May/early June (depends on when we get to $5000!) and I do hope you and WomenLEAD will stick around for it. I PROMISE I will set you up with an intern early and that my top priority will be getting that Team Leader Toolkit published.
No matter what, I look forward to talking with you tomorrow. Is there any way we can push our talk to 10 AM PST which is 1PM EST? Let me know, OK?

Yes, voting starts tomorrow. A couple of housekeeping items for you, as Team leader:
1. Voting (fingers crossed) will start at 6PM PST and end on 4/23 at 6PM PST.
2. Gift memberships are much easier to give now. These are a great way to build up your Team LIKEs as well as votes. Here's the process:
a)People indicate how many gift memberships they would like to give via our gorgeous (if we do say so ourselves) new Donation page.
b)once they donate, they will be taken to a form to fill out the names and emails of their giftees
c)the giftees will receive an email with a link to a form where they can collect their gift memberships.
d)we add their emails to the voter database
e)giftees get an email with a link to the ballot.
With the exception of us adding their emails to the voter database, the process is entirely automated so it should be much, much easier this time around.
3. Anyone who has ever donated - or received a gift membership - is eligible to vote but not everyone stays on our Mail Chimp mailing list so if you know who joined last time, send them an email with a link to the ballot after voting begins.
4. Keep posting and answering questions because I will send out three newsletters to those who have not voted during the week!
Got any questions? Fire away by leaving a comment on my page.
Good luck!

I am going to send out another newsletter later today, so if now would be a great time to add a new discussion, photo or video to your Team page so I can link to it and get 5fers to know more Wome LEAD and your great work!

We should be ready to start our next grant cycle on Monday, April 2! We'll have two weeks of storytelling, begin voting week on April 16, end voting on April 23 and announce the winner on April 24. It should be exciting and I do hope you are up for another round.
Also, would you like an intern to help you during the grant cycle? They can help spread the word, rally the troops, hunt for new votes and otherwise make your life easier. Lemme know!
We have a new Donate, Join & Gift Membership page which I hope will make donating and giving gift memberships much simpler. Would love to know your thoughts on the way it is laid out.
Please let me know if you are up for Round 2! More soon!

Happy to be able to support your great work! I know all about working within limitations on the web so totally understand. I only mention it because I love getting feedback about what might be confusing to people or likely to turn them off from participating or donating! Anna
Anna McDonnell said… Hi Claire:
I just donated to Women LEAD but want to tell you that in the donation process I felt not at all sure that you guys were going to actually get the money! Can you let me know if you did? And if there's one thing leading 5 for Fairness has taught me it is that if one person feels or reacts a certain way, others will too! Keep up the great work. Will let you know the dates for the next grant cycle as soon as we know them! Anna
Anna McDonnell said… Hey Claire:
We are trying, with each grant cycle, to make things simpler for new members here on 5 for Fairness, but we still have work to do! It might be a good idea to check with your members who joined us here on the community site to make sure they donated and voted (and actually check with everyone you sent to us!). If they are not sure, they probably haven't!
If they donated at Paypal, they will have received a receipt from Paypal via email. If they didn't, they probably didn't donate.
If they donate, we add them to our donor database and they get two emails from us: one is a welcome, the other a tax receipt. Once they vote, they get an email thanking them for voting. If they don't have any of these, they probably haven't donated or voted.
BUT sometimes emails go awry, so you can always email me or leave a comment on my page with their email addresses and I can check to see if they are in our voter database.
If you find they haven't donated or voted yet, here are really simple (I hope, tell me if they are not) directions that you can give them.
We are, as I suspect you guys are, a work in progress and our best hope is to use the mistakes of each grant round to make the next one a more fun, easy and meaningful experience for all our 5fers. Thanks for your patience and hard work.
