VOICE? A Great overview!

Hello everyone! Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us with questions, followed our posts, and a HUGE thank you to those who have been voting for VOICE! We are so appreciative of your support, and thrilled to have this chance to speak more about how helping girls build their confidence and marketable skills can increase gender equality and quality of life for women and their families across the world. Hi:
I'm Payton, a 5fer intern, and am just dropping by to say "Thank you!" for being such a loyal and active 5fer.  It is because of members like you that we have been able to give away seven (yes, seven!) $5000 grants to organizations working to make the world fair for girls and women - and we're only a few hundred dollars away from our eighth!  We are so appreciative of the way you have put up with all our many growing pains and hope you keep on believing in our circle and the good we can do.  Thanks again…

Hi Deb:
Yes, voting starts tomorrow.  A couple of housekeeping items for you, as Team leader:

1. Voting (fingers crossed) will start at 6PM PST and end on 4/23 at 6PM PST.

2. Gift memberships are much easier to give now. These are a great way to build up your Team LIKEs as well as votes. Here's the process:

a)People indicate how many gift memberships they would like to give via our gorgeous (if we do say so ourselves) new Donation page.

b)once they donate, they will be taken to a form to fill out the names and emails of their giftees

c)the giftees will receive an email with a link to a form where they can collect their gift memberships.

d)we add their emails to the voter database

e)giftees get an email with a link to the ballot.

With the exception of us adding their emails to the voter database, the process is entirely automated so it should be much, much easier this time around.

3. Anyone who has ever donated - or received a gift membership - is eligible to vote but not everyone stays on our Mail Chimp mailing list so if you know who joined last time, send them an email with a link to the ballot after voting begins.

4. Keep posting and answering questions because I will send out three newsletters to those who have not voted during the week!

Got any questions? Fire away by leaving a comment on my page.

Good luck!

Hi there:
I am going to send out another newsletter later today, so if now would be a great time to add a new discussion, photo or video to your Team page so I can link to it and get 5fers to know more Camp VOICE and your great work!

Anna

PS Why do I get the feeling you are not running their Twitter feed anymore?  Can we Skype soon?

Hi Deb:
Well, we are almost ready to start another grant cycle and I am here to say that I do hope Camp VOICE is up for one more try!

We should be ready to start our grant cycle on Monday, April 2. We'll have two weeks of storytelling (I think recycling your posts is the best way to go), begin voting week on April 16, end voting on April 23 and announce the winner on April 24.

If you do stay with us, I can offer you an intern to help you out duringthe grant cycle, rallying your existing troups and hunting for more from the ranks of the Breaking Ground members.  How's that for enticement?

We have a new Donate, Join & Gift Membership page which I hope will make donating and giving gift memberships much simpler.  Would love to know your thoughts on the way it is laid out.

Talk soon!

Anna

One last email before bed!

As you know, I hope!, we are trying, with each grant cycle, to make things simpler for new members here on 5 for Fairness, but we still have work to do!  It might be a good idea to check with your members who joined us here on the community site to make sure they donated and voted (and actually check with everyone you sent to us!).  If they are not sure, they probably haven't!

If they donated at Paypal, they will have received a receipt from Paypal via email. If they didn't, they probably didn't donate.

If they donate, we add them to our donor database and they get two emails from us: one is a welcome, the other a tax receipt.  Once they vote, they get an email thanking them for voting.  If they don't have any of these, they probably haven't donated or voted.

BUT sometimes emails go awry, so you can always email me or leave a comment on my page with their email addresses and I can check to see if they are in our voter database.

If you find they haven't donated or voted yet, here are really simple (I hope, tell me if they are not) directions that you can give them.

We are a work in progress and our best hope is to use the mistakes of each grant round to make the next one a more fun, easy and meaningful experience for all our 5fers. Thanks for your patience and hard work.

Hi Deb:
Here we are again!  Good luck this week - you have done another amazing job telling the story of Camp VOICE and I know you have made new fans and supporters - you already had one in me but I am even more impressed now that I know Camp VOICE - and its leaders and supporters - so much better!

You might want to let your supporters know about our new Gift Membership option which is an easy way for people to donate for friends and family (or anyone who can't deal with Paypal).  The process is simple and outlined right here:

A note of caution though: Gift memberships have to be processed by hand, and it can take more time for people to come and collect their gift, so though we'll try our best to process any Gift memberships we get on the last day of voting in time for people to vote, we can NOT guarantee any Gift memberships will be completely processed after 6PM PST on Tuesday 2/21. So tell people to get them in early!

See you on Twitter!

Good luck and thanks for the great work you are doing to make the world a fair place for girls!
