Proposing a Team?

Anna: I'd like to propose an organization/team for the next round: http://www.hopetoshine.org/Started by 2 Wesleyan students, this organization is making a huge difference for girls in the slum of Kibera, in Nairobi, Kenya, and is a great model for similar organizing in slum communities worldwide which are desperate for basic health and education services. Can you let me know what the steps are to putting a team together? Thanks!DominiqueSee More

Hi Dominique,

I’m the co-founder of Women LEAD, one of the teams competing for the grant this month. I’d love your support to empower more than 200 young women in Nepal to become leaders in their schools and communities! Your vote would help us build the capacity of future female leaders to tackle the root causes of poverty and discrimination. Our organization strongly believes that building young women's confidence and skills is key to empowerment. Please check out our page and website to see the work that we do and let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Hi,

My name is Payton M, I am a 5 For Fairness intern. I’m stopping by to let you know that now is the time to support your favorite team or teams to help them advance into the voting round. Seven teams are competing for five available spots in the voting round. The five teams that make it to the voting round will have a chance to win our $5000 grant, but only one team will win. The teams need your support now to make it into the voting round.  Here's how to support a Team:

First click on the Teams tab at the top of any page to see all of the teams. Click on any team that sounds interesting to you. If you like what you see and want to become a supporter, click the +Support (Team name) button in the upper right hand corner of the Team page. You can support as many Teams as you think deserve a spot in the Voting Round. Click here for more information on how to support a Team or, if you are ready to start, click here to see all the Teams.

Thanks for supporting 5 For Fairness,

Payton M.

Hi Dominique,

GEMS is the newest Team addition to 5 for fairness!

It is an incredible organization catering to young girls and women in, exiting, or recovering from the commercial sex industry. Check out the GEMS page: http://5forfairness.org/group/gems

If you find GEMS worthy of making it into the Voting Round, please click the SUPPORT button in the upper right hand side of the Team page. Your support and contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Dominique:
Now would be a great - in fact THE time - to start a Team! I am having "Office Hours" this week and will be available to talk through any questions you have about how to start a Team. You can Skype me (fiveforfairness) on....

Wednesday, February 9 from 4 - 6 PM PST

and

Saturday, February 12 from 11AM - 1PM PST

If you can't make either of those times, just email me at 5forFairness(at sign)gmail.com and we can set up an appointment to talk via Skype or, if we want to be really old school, on the phone!

Anna
