Because of your past support of Women's Empowerment in Uganda, which has not been active in this grant cycle, I am writing to ask if you would consider sharing your support with The Orchid Project. The Orchid Projects sole aim is to end the practice of female genital cutting.

As a woman and a mother I feel compelled to do my part to end the human rights violation that three million girls suffer each year as their genitals are cut without permission or anesthesia.

The Orchid Project works to end FGC by respectfully raising awareness of FCG, connecting individuals and local, national, and international organizations, and advocacy.

I know Orchid would be so grateful for your support and that this $5,000 would mean a lot to their work. Please consider supporting them to get through to the next round.

We have to get to our next $5000 before we vote but after this weekend I'm going to announce that we have a matching grant offer (from my Mom in honor of my sister Mima who died when she was 19) so hopefully our 5fers will be inspired to get us to our next grant.
