ANOTHER WORTHY MEDICAL MISSION TO AFRICA: MEDICINE FOR HUMANITY

Judy Ranan and I just met with Dr. Leo Lagasse, another amazing doctor, doing women's health work in Africa -- this time Uganda. He is partnered with UCLA and takes interns, residents and nurses down to Uganda to help service the women in that country, who have little to no medical care. These doctors are training local doctors with high-def computers which are hooked up to the UCLA operating rooms so that the Uganda doctors can see exactly how to perform the latest in pelvic, obstetric and gynecological surgeries. They, like the Panzi hospital in DRC, are repairing a lot of rape and abuse injuries. They're having their first fundraiser April 10 at UCLA and you'll get to see videos of their work, meet the doctors, and for the very reasonable ticket price of $75 help support their work. The program will feature video clips of heart-warming stories of African women and children cared for by our volunteer nurses, residents and attending physicians.

We will also present details of our exciting new Distance Learning program which will use state-of-the-art technology and the Internet. With this vitally important program we can provide African countries continuous first-hand access to the most current medical information and treatment procedures.
