Friday Fairness: WISER: Empowering Girls Through Education
WISER is a school in Kenya devoted to providing girls in need with full
financial aid so that finances do not prevent them from receiving
the educations they deserve. The WISER school works in conjunction with
Duke University to present girls with the opportunity to learn computer
studies, entrepreneurship, and foreign languages such as Chinese, that
will allow them to have independent and successful futures. The school
also employs female teachers that are positive role models and allows a
local board to have an impact on how they feel the school school can
better service the community. WISER
hopes to one day create powerful female figures and a peaceful alliance
between genders.
